Today we head north to Main with a stop in historic Maritime Portland. We'll go through the beautiful coastal region including lighthouses and local lobster fishermen. Later, we'll stroll through the cobblestone streets of Portland's famous Old Port waterfront, lined with working fishing wharves, restaurants, and shops. We'll continue through Bangor to Bar Harbor to weave through Acadia National Park and end with a delicious feast of fresh Maine lobster and steamed mussels.
Bar Harbor is situated on Mount Desert Island, a landscape marked by woodland, rocky beaches, and glacier-scoured granite peaks such as Cadillac Mountain. Among the wildlife are moose, beaver, whales, and seabirds. We'll go to the highest point on the Atlantic Coast, to see some of New England’s most spectacular scenery. Your afternoon is free to explore the quaint village of Bar Harbor on your own. You may decide to go whale watching, take a nature cruise, or stroll through the quaint shops.
Today we'll travel through the Longfellow Mountains and into the White Mountains of New Hampshire. Admire the land of covered bridges and quaint towns that take you back in time. The forests here are noted for their vibrant colors.
Today is a beautiful drive through Franconia Notch, along New Hampshire's Kancamagus Scenic Byway, and the White Mountain National Forest--renowned for its fall leaf viewing. Unspoiled by human structures, you can see the kaleidoscope of yellows, browns, oranges, and reds. We'll then go into Montpelier to visit Vermont's oldest sugarhouse and end the day in Middlebury, a beautiful village listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
We begin the morning in Woodstock with a village green reminiscent of 19th-century England. From there, we'll arrive at Vermont's little Grand Canyon to see fabulous views of the gorge. The afternoon includes time in downtown Brattleboro, named one of the top-10 small art towns in the country.
We start the day in the seaside town of Hyannis, a village on the Cape Cod peninsula. Here you will find award-winning restaurants, quaint storefronts, museums, and beautiful beaches.
Today we'll drive up the Cape to Provincetown. This gorgeous seaside town along the Atlantic is a small haven with beautiful beaches, bountiful culture, and innumerable paths you can stroll. You can take this as a leisurely day to explore on your own or we can help you set up personalized activities.
As we arrive back in Boston, we'll take you through a guided tour focusing on the city's most prominent landmarks.
